Sarah is an Expert Family Mediator, Dual Qualified in England & Wales and Scotland, with Cross-Border Expertise
Sarah is a highly experienced accredited family mediator and Child Inclusive Mediator, helping separating families resolve issues involving children, finances and the practical arrangements arising from separation and divorce.
She is qualified and accredited to practise family mediation in both England & Wales and Scotland, being accredited by the Family Mediation Council (FMCA) and by Scottish Mediation.
Her dual qualification gives Sarah particular experience and understanding of cross-border family matters, including disputes where family members, children or arrangements span the different jurisdictions.
Sarah works with parents, separating couples and wider family members across a broad range of family disputes, including:
Child arrangements
Financial issues arising from separation and divorce
Property and other practical arrangements following separation
Relocation and cross-border family issues
Education and schooling decisions
Specific issues concerning children
Grandparents and wider family disputes
Child Inclusive Mediation
Her approach is pragmatic, sensitive and focused on helping families have constructive conversations and identify practical solutions that work for their individual circumstances.
Before becoming a mediator, Sarah had an extensive career in communications, marketing and management.
This experience informs her ability to manage difficult conversations, understand different perspectives and help people communicate effectively at what can be an extremely challenging time.
Sarah established her own specialist family mediation practice, Better Mediation, in 2020 and previously worked as a Family Mediator with National Family Mediation.
Sarah delivers mediation both in person and online, giving families flexibility over how and where their mediation takes place.
She can also work alongside others where appropriate, whether co-mediating with another family mediator or a family lawyer-mediator, or as part of a wider hybrid family mediation model involving the parties and their legal representatives.
This flexibility enables the mediation process to be tailored to the particular needs and complexity of each family.
Based in Edinburgh, Sarah is particularly well placed to assist with family mediation involving England & Wales and Scotland, as well as mediating more generally with families throughout the UK.
