Selection Criteria

The Primary Panel is made up of skilled professional mediators who are experts in their field and who have substantial knowledge and extensive experience in mediation. The Primary Panel is designed for higher value and more complex disputes.

Behavioural Attributes

 

1.    Be an expert in your respective field of practice.

2.    Have a progressive attitude towards advancing the use of Mediation and increasing access.

3.    Believe passionately in the benefits and advantages of Mediation.

4.    Have a strong commercial awareness and understanding.

5.    Act with integrity, be scrupulously honesty and operate transparently.

6.    Embrace the evaluative approach to Mediation. 


Professional Attributes

7.    Have at least 10 years post qualification experience in your primary profession.

8.    Be a qualified mediator having successfully completed a Mediator Training Programme from a reputable provider. 

9.    Complete at least 5 hours of relevant continuing professional development training each year.

10.  Have signed the Mediator Locator Panel Appointment Agreement.

11.  Be regulated by a reputable governing body, e.g., SRA, RICS, CEDR, the Civil Mediation Council (non-family work) or the Family Mediation Council (family work) and fully comply with their membership and conduct criteria.

Set Value Panel Selection Criteria

The Set Value Panel is designed for disputes less than or equal to £50,000 in value and will be operated in accordance with the Civil Mediation Council’s Fixed Fees Scheme.  This panel will be comprised of both experienced professional mediators and rising stars in mediation who have been specifically identified as potential future candidates for the Primary Panel.

7.    Have at least 3 years post-qualification experience in your primary profession.

8.    Be a qualified mediator having successfully completed a Mediator Training Programme from a reputable provider.
