Workplace and employment disputes will often fall within the Set Value Panel.

While the Set Value Panel usually applies below £50,000, some lower-value disputes may not be suited due to complexity or sensitivity.

Non-Binding Opinion

Understanding all parties positions, your mediator is ideally placed to provide an invaluable and professional opinion on the merits of your dispute.

The provision of a Non-Binding Opinion can allow parties to further narrow the issues and increase the prospects of securing a resolution.

A Non-Binding Opinion can be provided (often at no additional cost):

  • in the very unlikely event that your mediation does not reach a settlement;

  • at the end of your mediation as a further attempt to facilitate resolution;

  • when all the parties (including the mediator) unequivocally agree.

What Is Included?

Fees typically include:

  • Review of dispute documents

  • Pre-mediation contact (where appropriate)

  • Mediation attendance

  • Recording the Heads of Terms of any proposed settlement

Formal settlement agreements are prepared by the parties or their lawyers. Mediator Locator can assist separately with formalising settlement terms if required.

Many of our lawyer-mediators can host in-person mediations at their firm’s offices without additional venue cost. Catering can be arranged separately.

Where an in-person mediation requires travel, reasonable travel and subsistence expenses may apply and will be agreed in advance.
