Michael Culver

Michael is the Founder and Managing Director of Culver Law Ltd, with a particular specialism in Wills, Trusts and Estate Disputes and Court of Protection mediations.


His daily practice is to provide specialist legal advice in the areas of Court of Protection, wills, estate administration, trusts, LPAs, tax planning and wills and probate disputes.


Michael has an estate planning and estate litigation background spanning over 20 years as well as being a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), with particular expertise in inheritance tax and capital gains tax.


These tax qualifications enable him to see through potential problems and issues with proposed settlements that may arise from a tax perspective and to address these matters with the parties.


His practice includes being instructed to advise beneficiaries of trusts or estates and to bring actions against the personal representatives or trustees for mismanagement of the estate or trust in question.


Michael is regularly appointed to act as an independent administrator in complex dispute estates, as a professional attorney for those who want an experienced professional managing their affairs when they are no longer able to do so and is also a highly experienced Court of Protection Deputy and is a member of the Office of the Public Guardian’s panel of professional deputies managing both property and financial affairs and health and welfare matters for clients with all sorts of conditions at varying stages of life.


This experience includes working for clients living with brain injuries, dementia and schizophrenia and he is regularly appointed by the Court to deal with difficult financial abuse cases.


Michael is a long-term member of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly) and served as Chair of the organisation for 6 years between 2019 and 2025 overseeing the rebrand in that time.


In addition he is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT).


Michael provides legal training for the STEP Diploma for CLTI and lectures regularly for MBL, Legal Futures, the Association of Lifetime Lawyers, the Law Society, STEP and Professional Conferences.


In 2021 he was voted as the inaugural “Industry Champion” at the UK Wills and Probate Awards and in 2024 he launched the Advisors for Deaf Network to help make professional services more accessible for the deaf community.

In 2025 he joined the advisory boards at two organisations: Remember a Charity and Arken.


He is a published author having contributed chapters to various publications and in 2024 the Law Society published his book titled Making Gifts of Assets – the legal considerations.
